Introduction

The intention of this site is to provide context and reference photos for an artist to reference. This information was collected, proofed, and collated by me over a couple of snow days on a weekend in March 2026 to help clarify and explain the subjects of my interest. It has not only pictures, but also some information about the cultural and historical significance of these subjects. It is maybe too much, feels a little "class book report," and makes too many assumptions about the artist, but my hope is that it will be useful.

This site is a simple, albeit verbose, guide to some of the most important pollinators in the Yucatán, and the plants they depend on. And not just important to the ecosystems and cultures of the Yucatán, but also to me. The Yucatán is a hotspot of biodiversity, and there likely isn't sufficient room on a human to cover them all, so I've selected my favorites. The ones that I find most interesting, most beautiful, and most significant to the landscape.
