Merriam's Long-tongued Bat

(Glossophaga mutica)

Glossophaga Mutica is currently recognized as one of the most abundant nectar-feeding bats in the Yucatán Peninsula. G. Mutica is a generalist nectar-feeder that exhibits high ecological plasticity. While it relies on nectar and pollen, it also consumes fruit and insects to supplement its protein intake. Distributed from northern Mexico through Central America, it is frequently recorded in both conserved areas like Calakmul and human-modified landscapes such as Mérida.
